VISION

The National High School Alliance envisions a nationwide commitment to fostering high academic achievement, closing the achievement gap, and promoting civic and personal growth among all youth in our high schools and communities.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the National High School Alliance is to mobilize the resources, knowledge, and capacity of individuals and organizations to work collectively in shaping policy, practice, research, and public engagement that foster high achievement, close the achievement gap, and promote civic and personal growth among all youth in our high schools and communities.

GOALS

The National High School Alliance organizes its work around the following goals:

  • Build opportunities for shared learning and concerted action about, practice, policy, and research among organizations interested in high school age youth.
  • Inform practice, policy, and research at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Increase public awareness and engagement to support the development of effective practices and policies.
STRATEGIES

The National High School Alliance uses the following strategies to accomplish its goals:

  • Framing the National Discussion
Provide greater coherence around "big picture" issues affecting education, including questions of equity, diversity, and changing demographics, and facilitate dialogue to resolve tensions among stakeholder groups with multiple perspectives.
  • Bridging the Policy-Practice Divide: Translating What Practitioners Know Into Policy that Works
Provide a voice for teachers, principals, and other practitioners in local, state, and federal policy.
  • Convening with Purpose: Using the Collective Power of the Alliance to Problem-Solve and Connect Resources on the Ground
Connect National High School Alliance partner organizations to local communities and engage them in addressing specific challenges.
  • Providing Tools for Action
Help leaders at all levels take action on high school and youth issues through quality web-based tools and resources.
