About the Resource Guide for Action

The Resource Guide for Action is a compendium of resources to help policymakers and practitioners take action around the six core principles of A Call to Action: Transforming High School for All Youth. The Guide points users to organizations with expertise in each principle and contains a variety of resources, including research, tools, case studies, and strategies. The resources are drawn primarily from the National High School Alliance partner organizations, who represent key knowledge and expertise on issues related to high schools and youth. The Guide will be continually updated as new and relevant resources become available.

A Call to Action: Transforming High School for All Youth is designed to provide both policymakers and practitioners with a framework for guiding the process of transforming the traditional, comprehensive high school. Because there is no one-size-fits-all model that will be effective in all contexts, the framework provides six core principles around which a broad range of context-specific designs and strategies can be interpreted to meet local needs. To create deep and lasting change, all six core principles must be addressed. The principles are interdependent and must function as part of a comprehensive plan focused on ensuring that all students are ready for college, careers, and active civic participation.
